The original house was a single storey house laid out as an H shaped plan form series of small thatched roofs.
The scheme included filling in the spaces in the 'H' and reconstructing the roof as a single span. The resulting roof created a volume large enough to accommodate 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
The ground floor accommodation was rearranged and extended to create a large living room, a light and airy kitchen and dining area, a study and a shower room.
The materials selected included clay tiles for the roof and painted rendered external walls.
The hardwood windows were designed to give the house a Scandinavian appearance, and louvered shutters were used in the living room to provide some privacy.
The house has oak floors on the ground floor and the detailing and decorations have a fresh, simple and light quality.
